LIVESTOCK TRANSHUMANCE FRANCISCO MORGADO
SIERRA DE FUENTES, CÁCERES – SOLOMON, LEÓN – SPAIN
Paco is a livestock transhumance since I was a kid. Then he did so as a pastor, and every summer it was transhumance on foot from the llanos de Cáceres up to the mountains of the province of Ávila. Already in the 90's bought his own flock and continued with the same technique livestock but changed its target for the mountains of Solomon (León, Spain), and instead of walking, the route now makes it through trucks.
“Up on the mountain grasses are very rich, the only thing that the mountain you have to like it, learn to be alone, to hold 4 or 5 months up there alone”
“Transhumance benefits a lot. The rest of the 5 months of my farm in Cáceres is invaluable and the work they do for my flock, in these mountains of the north in the fight against the fire is very, very important”
